Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard surfaces

A revitalized the Russian player claimed his first championship for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition championship match.

The Russian, a former world number one, has experienced a challenging period, managing just a single victory at the Grand Slams and undergoing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

His unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in particular - resulted in him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately parting ways with long-time mentor his previous coach.

Now training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually improved in the last few weeks - peaking in a closely contested competitive victory over challenger Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's initial championship following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt from spring of that year.

Victory also means the Russian has secured 21 titles at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," stated tennis professional Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my second daughter her name, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had lost his past six championship matches, comprising in the German tournament in the past months.

Medvedev's defensive approach and recurring emotional displays on the tennis court had led commentators to wonder if his ability to compete at the highest level was finished.

Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and compete assertively, reinforced by an improved service.

Medvedev came back from a break down in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, securing four of the final five exchanges to go ahead.

The pair swapped break points in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his first professional victory, gained dominance to create a decider.

Moutet saved four initial chances in a competitive third set before the Russian won the break to 15 to serve for the match.

Appropriately, he clinched the title with a rally at the net, with Moutet unable to handle a return after over two and a half hours.
